Caerphilly Golf Club Found
Junior Academy Fund!
Following the introduction of new age categories in junior membership, which
now starts from 8 years of age. There has been a large influx of young junior
members in recent years, mainly whose parents or grand parents are members
of the club. With the Executive Committee having recently appointed a Junior
Committee to assist Mr. Roger Clarke the Junior Leader there has been a new
found enthusiasm, with the club realising the need to "invest in junior
development because this section are the future champions of the club".
The Club started
the year by organising on course golf equitte and basic rules sessions, with
Committee Members looking after small groups of Juniors of all different age
groups benefiting from older members experiences.
Junior team matches were organised along with club competitions throughout
the school holidays, with some younger golfers gaining valuable experience
by mixing and playing with older junior members.
With Caerphilly
Golf Club being the oldest club in the Area it has built up strong links with
various sporting clubs in the valley. The club has always had a lot of current
and retired rugby players, continuing their local rivalry on the golf course.
