At present the team consists of three pairs with two reserve pairs, who play a foursomes format off the yellow tees. Each team pair plays for a point or half a point in the event of a pair halving. At the end of the season play offs involving the winners of each league determines who will be the Hallett Cup Golf League Champions and will hold the Denys Bonnell Trophy. Caerphilly were winners in 1974, 1976, 1985 and 2000. During the season The Jim Davies Knock Out Cup Competition also takes place, Caerphilly have also won this trophy on a number of occasions, and have accomplished the rare achievement of "Doing the double" twice.

Hallett Cup Winning Team 

The Society was formed in 1948 by Arthur Hallett a long handicap golfer at Wenvoe Castle Golf Club, who were joined by Brynhill, Dinas Powys, and Llantrisant to make up the Society. 1998 saw the Golden Jubilee of the Society and today we have forty two member clubs who are proud to continue the Hallett traditions began all those years ago.

If you would like to join the Hallett section of our club in 2004, you are very welcome.  You need to have a handicap of 18+ and be available to play at home on a Wednesday, tee reserved 5.00 till 5.30, and also play away. If selected you will be expected to stay for our sit down meal and enjoy our visiting teams company till around 10pm. Our captain this year is Mike Bird.

We need a squad of around twenty four players to operate successfully. A list inviting players to register goes up in February, so please come and join us. Our AGM is held in late March. In 2004 we play in Division"A" along with Whitchurch, Aberdare, Forest Hills, Glamorganshire, Llantrisant and Wenvoe. Our first fixture is away to Llantrisant on Friday April 30th, preceded by a couple of social "bashes" in April. You are very welcome to join us and get a taste of Hallett Cup Golf.
